- Established a BBBEE committee to support equity in rail careers

Rail qualifications that meet national standards
We are fully accredited by TETA, QCTO and NAMB to deliver a wide range of rail qualifications. Our instructors, assessors, and moderators are registered professionals, ensuring full compliance with national and occupational standards.
Our qualifications include:
• Diesel-electric fitter training with Red Seal certification
• Certified training for drivers, shunters, controllers and assistants
• Safety and brake system compliance
• Technical upskilling in mechanical and electrical fields
Our in-house course materials are developed specifically for the African rail environment and approved by all relevant regulatory bodies.
Apprenticeships and artisan development
Our Diesel Electric Fitter apprenticeship spans three years and includes hands-on training, trade test preparation and formal assessment by accredited moderators. We also offer refresher and recurrence training for experienced professionals, ensuring compliance with evolving safety and operational standards.
To date, we have trained more than 700 drivers and over 200 red seal technicians, helping build a stronger, safer and more skilled workforce across the continent.

Locomotive operations and movement
• Operate diesel and electric locomotives (GM, GE, AFRO4000, 5E1)
• Operate trains with vacuum or pneumatic brake systems
• Administer track warrant systems
• Shunt rail vehicles safely
• Provide on-track protection
Brake system compliance
• 28LAV-1, 26L, CCBII and KBR-DVRIII systems
• UIC AFRO4000 and UM10B brakes
• Wagon vacuum brake operation
• Electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brake systems
Safety and dangerous goods
• HAZMAT awareness and compliance
• High-voltage equipment safety
• Principles of Safe Movement on Rail (POSMOR)
• Handling and transporting dangerous goods
Courses are offered as full qualifications, refreshers or custom modules tailored to client needs.
Advisory and compliance services
Traxtion also provides expert consulting to support rail operators, regulators and clients with compliance and safety.
